Sophia Loren, one of the most appreciated actresses of all times and a well-known beauty icon, has announced that she will return to the big screen after a hiatus of over a decade, The Hollywood Reporter informs.

The 78-year-old actress has agreed to appear in a movie directed by her son, Edoardo Ponti, which goes into production this very month.

She will “star in La voce umana (The Human Voice), which will be directed by her 40-year-old son, Edoardo Ponti. The story is based on a one-person play first performed in 1930, written by the French poet and writer Jean Cocteau,” THR says.

“Unlike the stage version, which was written in French, the screen version of the story will be performed in Neapolitan dialect. The film will be set in Rome, Naples and Ostia, the port city just west of Rome,” adds the publication.

Shooting for the project will take only 3 weeks but a release date has not been announced yet, THR further says.
