Japanese mobile phone maker Sony has been long rumored to plan the launch of a new 5-inch smartphone before the end of this year, and new reports suggest that we might actually see more such devices being released on the market.

Apparently, the third quarter of this year might bring along two new such Xperia devices from the company, in addition to the previously rumored Xperia A, Xperia UL, and the Android-based phablet codenamed Togari.

One of these two smartphones should include CyberShot capabilities, thus being capable of delivering a great imaging experience to its users, PhoneArena notes in a recent post.

The phone is also said to be high-end, with specifications that will rival those of recently announced flagship smartphones, yet no exact details on the matter have been provided.

Along with it, Sony is expected to launch a 5-inch Xperia Walkman smartphone, which will include an integrated amplified chip, as well as various other features specific to the company’s Walkman series.

High-end hardware should be included in this device as well, though it still remains to be seen what exactly it will have to offer when made official.

These two new Sony smartphones are also expected to be accompanied by a third high-end device from Sony, one that would pack a smaller form factor, it seems, though capable of proving a direct iPhone competitor.

For the time being, however, all these details are only speculation, and things might actually turn out differently in the end.

However, the rumor does fall in line with previous expectations on Sony’s assault on the mobile market, and has a good chance to pan out, especially after we saw the company launch its water- and dustproof Xperia Z with a 5-inch screen and highly appealing specs inside, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
