Sony Mobile is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new series of Android-based devices in its Xperia lineup, one of which was previously spotted online with model number ST26i attached to it.

According to info that emerged on the Indonesian Postel regulatory site, the new device should arrive on shelves as Sony Xperia J, though no info on when that could happen has emerged.

The smartphone
is expected to land on shelves with a 4-inch (480 x 854 pixels) touchscreen display, while being powered by a 1GHz single-core application processor (MSM7627A chipset).

Moreover, the guys over at XperiaBlog note that it could also land with Google’s Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich platform loaded on it right from the start.

The rest of the phone’s specs are shrouded in mystery at the moment, but we should not expect for extraordinary hardware inside it, as it is said to be only a mid-level device.
