Following an official announcement made back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sony’s FMP-X1 4K HD Media Player is finally ready to arrive on the market, and can already be ordered over on Sony’s website.

The device is set to become available in stores on July 15, featuring a price tag of $699 (€537), and capable of delivering 4K content to Sony's compatible televisions (4K, or Ultra HD, denotes a resolution four times greater than 1080p).

As Mashable notes, Sony has packed the media player with 10 free 4K Ultra HD feature films, and is also set to cut the device’s price tag by $200 (€154) for those who purchased its Sony X900A 4K Ultra HD TV.

To provide early 4K adopters with content to enjoy on their devices, Sony is also set to kick off a Video Unlimited 4K content service this fall.
