Does this mean that we're finally going to get some rumble?

After kissing and making up with Immersion, Sony's Jack Tretton declared that their partnership is going to be a fruitful one and that the PS3's controller is going to see some change. In his recent interview with GamePro, Tretton reveals some more details about the changes occurring. SCEA's CEO doesn't actually say what is going to be changed, but he does give us a clue about how radical the changes will be:

"We used to have a narrow approach to controllers. If you really wanted to [move outside the standard controller], we left it up to third party manufacturers. But now we're moving to a regional approach. You will see peripherals coming from SCEA that will address the interests of the U.S. consumer. I don't have anything to tell you specifically, but we're certainly open to changing the SIXAXIS controller if it addressed North American gamers," said Tretton.

Until Sony decides to reveal some more information regarding what they have in mind with the poor and criticized SIXAXIS, all we can guess is that rumble will be a first priority, because that's what the complaints were mainly about and still are. But what if they decide to change much more, or add something new that nobody is even thinking about? Sony has proved over the years that they have the ability of making great innovations, so we could be in for a bigger surprise than just rumble. Tretton is awfully confident of this changing the SIXAXIS deal!
