Sony Xperia U is now available for pre-order in India and is expected to hit shelves sometime this week. Today, Sony has quietly made the Xperia U available in Hong Kong and Taiwan. In addition, the Japanese company introduced the Xperia sola in the same countries as well.

According to XperiaBlog, customers who want to purchase the Xperia U must come up with HK$2,498 ($320 or €245) in Hong Kong, and NT$9,900 (335 USD or €260) in Taiwan.

The Xperia sola is a bit more expensive at HK$2,998 ($385 or €295) in Hong Kong and NT$10,900 ($370 or €285) in Taiwan.

Furthermore, Sony fans living in Taiwan should know that the handset vendor plans to introduce the Xperia P sometime in mid-May. The smartphone will be available for a suggested retail price of NT$13,800 ($470 or €360).

Both Xperia P and Xperia U will be available in Europe in mid-May, aside from the UK where the Android phones are expected to go live at the end of the month.

Unfortunately, all Xperia NXT smartphones will be delivered with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system out of the box.

Even though Sony promised an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for all these Xperia NXT smartphones, there’s no telling exactly when Sony is able to release the update.

Another downside may be the lack of a microSD card slot for some of these NXT family smartphones, such as the Xperia S, Xperia U and Xperia P.

Fortunately, Xperia sola will be delivered with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), especially given the fact that the smartphone only packs 8GB of internal memory (only 5GB user accessible).

It is also worth mentioning that both Xperia sola and Xperia U are equipped with an ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset that sports a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz.
