14 DAY TRIAL // Sony’s upcoming flagship smartphone codenamed Honami has emerged quite a few times on the web, expected to arrive on shelves as Xperia i1, and some more info on it is available, courtesy of a system dump that leaked only a few days ago.
The software allegedly comes from a Canadian flavor of the smartphone, which should land on shelves at one of the country’s wireless carriers featuring model number C6906.
While it’s not certain whether C6906 is indeed Honami, the phone that this system dump comes from is certainly set to be unveiled soon in Sony’s Xperia lineup, a recent post on XperiaBlog notes.
The smartphone is expected to arrive on shelves with a Snapdragon 800 processor packed inside, which should make it one of the most powerful mobile phones out there.
Furthermore, the system dump confirms that it will be able to shoot photos at 20MP resolution (5248 x 3936 pixels), and that it will also feature a new Super Resolution algorithm that will enable it to record videos at 4K (4000 x 2000).
The handset will come with other appealing camera features as well, including ISO up to 12800 and a Steadyshot mode, it seems.
Said system dump, which emerged over at XDA-Developers, unveils other functionality of the upcoming Sony smartphone as well, including a Timeshift burst mode, as well as a camera API that will allow developers to come up with “Xperia camera add-ons.”
A new Augmented Reality app is also expected to make it inside the new device, which should be powered by Google’s Android operating system, most probably the latest platform version out there.
Sony is also said to have made various changes to the user interface that will be loaded on top of the OS when this handset arrives, including a new keyboard, a new Walkman application, and more.
For the time being, none of the above has been officially confirmed, yet chances are that Sony will formally unveil the new Xperia phone in a matter of days, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
