One of the mobile phones that Japanese handset vendor Sony Mobile might make official before the end of this year is the Sony Honami, which is rumored to arrive on shelves as the Xperia i1, and which can be admired in new leaked photos.

The upcoming mobile phone, said only yesterday to be en route to the market as the successor of the Xperia Z flagship, is expected to hit shelves with a 20-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which should result in a great imaging experience being delivered to users.

According to a recent post on eprice, the Xperia i1 Honami will be released with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, the same as the Xperia Z, and should also feature dust and water resistance.

Furthermore, the new handset should arrive on the market with a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor packed inside, complemented by 2GB of RAM.

Xperia i1 will also include 16 GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot for storage expansion purposes.

The smartphone is said to meet IP55/IP57 international standards when it comes to waterproof and dustproof capabilities, and to be powered by a 3000 mAh battery, which is built into the device.

Design-wise, the Android-based handset resembles a lot the aforementioned Xperia Z. The phone measures 144 x 73.9 x 8.3 mm, runs under Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and is expected to go official in three color flavors, namely White, Black, and Purple.

Rumor has it that Sony would plan on making the Xperia i1 Honami official on September 4 in Berlin, at an IFA 2013 press event that has already been announced.

In related news, we learn that Sony is also expected to launch a mini flavor of Honami, one that would still pack a Snapdragon 800 processor inside, thus capable of delivering high performance levels.

For the time being, however, no official confirmation on the matter has been provided, and we’ll take the info above with a grain of salt. Keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
