Unveiled back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in Las Vegas, Sony Xperia ZL is expected to arrive in Canada in early April.

Multiple Canadian carriers have confirmed that they will offer the Xperia ZL, which is the only smartphone announced at CES 2013 that will be released in the country.

According to Sony, Xperia Z will not be launched in Canada, or at least not in the near future. Instead, Canadians will get the Xperia ZL, which is said to be specially designed for select markets.

The folks over at MobileSyrup report that the Sony Xperia ZL is now available for pre-order at Sony Online Store for $675/€510 outright. Check it out here.

However, keep in mind that this version of Xperia ZL is locked on Rogers, so it will only work on this carrier’s network.

Other mobile operators in the country are expected to put the Xperia ZL up for pre-order, including Bell, Videotron, WIND Mobile, MTS and Mobilicity.

Those who wish to pre-order the Rogers Xperia ZL should know that the device is expected to ship beginning April 2, which comes in line with Sony’s previous statement regarding the phone’s availability in Canada.

Unlike the Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL does not feature IP57 certification (dust and water resistant), but comes with a few capabilities that the former lacks.

For example, the Xperia ZL packs IR connectivity and a slightly larger 2370 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 500 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time (13 hours in 3G mode).

Sony Xperia ZL is powered by Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and packs a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

On the back, the smartphone boasts an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while on the front, there’s a hyper-vibrant 5.0-inch Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 display that supports 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution.
