Sony’s unannounced Xperia Z5 will be a lot different

Sony has just unveiled the Xperia Z4 flagship, which, according to sources familiar with the matter, will be made available only in Japan. For the rest of the world, the Japanese company is said to be working on another flagship product to be launched later this summer.

A lot of people have been disappointed by the Xperia Z4, for one main reason: the flagship completely followed the design schematics of the previous Xperia Z3, bringing nothing new in terms of aesthetics.

Interestingly enough, word about Sony’s next-gen Xperia Z5 already surfaced online even before the Xperia Z4 went official. And it seems that Sony is finally listening to what fans have to say.

According to the rumor mill, the Xperia Z5 will truly boast the redesign we have been hoping for. And today, courtesy of Android Origin, we get to know to what extent this redesign will happen.

Imagining what the Sony Xperia Z5 might look like

Sources familiar with the matter are claiming that Sony will take a lot of inspiration from the recent BRAVIA television sets. On top of that, we’re told that the phone will sport a completely clean front end with a frosted glass effect.

Also, Sony is going to move its iconic logo to the side of the device, so no branding will appear on the front whatsoever.

The sides will apparently be thicker than on the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z4, and if word on the street is accurate, pretty reminiscent of the Sony Ericsson devices from the days of old.

Alongside the Xperia Z5, Sony is also expected to roll out the Xperia Z5 Ultra and Xperia Z5 Compact, which should take advantage of the same aesthetic features.

Previously, we didn't have many details to share about the Xperia Z5 Ultra and Z5 Compact, but today we can tell you that the smartphones will feature different display sizes, namely 6 inches and 4.8 inches, respectively.

When it comes to the Xperia Z5 Compact, the fact that the phone will sport a 4.8-inch display might mean Sony is ready to bump the resolution to 1920 x 1080 pixels, but this information is currently unconfirmed, so you’d better take it with a grain of salt.
