There have been lots of rumors surrounding Sony’s next flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, which is supposed to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2015.

Judging by the previous announcements, Sony should have something for smartphone fans next year at Consumer Electronics Show (CES). In fact, the Japanese company has already confirmed a press event for January 5, though there were no mentions of the kind of products to be unveiled during the CES 2015 press conference.

We have already reported on the Xperia Z4 on two occasions, but Sony is still mum on the matter and is most likely to stay this way until in Q1 2015.

However, there’s a new report that claims Sony will indeed announce the Xperia Z4 at CES 2015, which means we will probably know everything there is to know about the company’s flagship smartphone as early as January 5.

The folks over at Phonearena have been tipped on some of the Xperia Z4 specs, which do not seem to come in line with previous rumors. Well, at least the size of the display seems to be different now, but there are other differences like chipset and front-facing camera.

For starters, the Xperia Z4 will not be a phablet, but will not be far from the iPhone 6 Plus’ display size either. Sony’s flagship smartphone is now said to sport a 5.4-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution display, instead of a 5.5-inch screen previously rumored.

The Xperia Z4 will pack a better 4.8MP front-facing camera and 4GB of RAM

Some people will probably be disappointed by the fact that Sony Xperia Z4 will not be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. Instead, the Japanese handset maker will include a Snapdragon 805 processor.

On the back, the Xperia Z4 will pack a 20.7-megapixel camera, which isn’t surprising at all as the same module camera is included in most of its flagships.

However, this time Sony is said to add a new-generation sensor and two additional lens elements in order to collect more light. Another improvement would be the 4.8-megapixel camera in the front, which will feature wide-angle view and various selfie-related enhancements.

The Xperia Z4 will be powered by a rather high-capacity 3420 mAh battery, which should offer better life autonomy in comparison with Xperia Z3’s 3100 mAh battery.

Design-wise, Sony will make some changes that should set the Z4 apart from other Xperia flagship smartphones, such as slightly more rounded corners and sleeker bottom and top bezels.

As always, we recommend our readers to take this info with a grain of salt until Sony Mobile comes forward with an official statement.
