The Xperia Z4 Compact is a sure thing, even though Sony has yet to confirm the existence of the smartphone. After revealing its new flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, the Japanese company plans to launch a Compact version in the not-so-distant future.

Sony Xperia Z4 Compact has been confirmed since last month when the smartphone was spotted at NTT DoCoMo's upcoming lineup of handsets.

However, at that time there were no details on the phone's possible release date. The good news is a report coming from Russia claiming that Sony Xperia Z4 Compact will be announced on May 13, which is exactly one week from now.

Unfortunately, we still don't know the smartphone's full specs since the image leaked last month didn't contain any information of that kind.

Still, from previous experience, we do know that Sony usually doesn't cut down on specs when releasing a mini version of one of its flagship smartphones.

Xperia Z4 Compact should have the same hardware as the standard model

Unlike other companies trying to make some compromises in order to offer those who can't afford a flagship smartphone a downgraded version, Sony only includes a smaller display in its Compact series devices.

If the Japanese company maintains its policy, then we can expect the Xperia Z4 Compact to pack the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

On the back, the Xperia Z4 Compact might boast a 20.7-megapixel photo snapper, while in the front there should be a 5.1-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Since the Xperia Z4 sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, the Compact version should come with a smaller display.

It remains to be seen what display Sony chooses for the Xperia Z4 Compact, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
