Japanese mobile phone maker Sony mobile is expected to make a new flagship Android-based device official at the IFA 2014 show in Berlin, in the form of Xperia Z3, and some info on the handset’s availability appears to have leaked online.

Apparently, the handset could arrive on shelves before the end of September, after being officially introduced at the beginning of that month.

The info comes from a leaked internal document from wireless carrier Vodafone, which will hold a raffle for its reps between July 1 and September 30.

The document has made it online via go2Android and shows that the carrier’s store representatives will earn points by selling the Xperia Z3 when it arrives on shelves.

Moreover, the Xperia Z3 Compact appears to have been included in this as well, which clearly suggests that both of them will be on shelves before the end of September.

Sony already confirmed that a new flagship smartphone would be coming out of its labs every half a year, and Xperia Z3 is next in line.

However, while it’s clear that the phone will be announced at IFA in Berlin, no details on when it might arrive on shelves have emerged until now.

As for the Xperia Z3 Compact, supposedly the smaller flavor of the upcoming flagship, nothing has been officially unveiled on it as of now, and we’re still uncertain whether Sony is indeed panning on announcing it in fall as well.

Previous reports on the two devices suggested that Sony would pack both of them with Snapdragon 801 processors, while loading the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system on top of them.

The Xperia Z3 might hit shelves with a Quad HD screen (though some suggest that a full HD one is more likely) that should measure 5.2-inch or more diagonally, as well as with 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7-megapixel or higher rear camera.

The Xperia Z3 Compact, on the other hand, will sport a 4.5-inch full HD screen, 2GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, and a 2.1MP front camera.

Basically, the smaller handset will be capable of delivering about the same performance capabilities as the larger phone does, as it also happened with the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact before it.

Hopefully, more info on the upcoming Sony smartphones will emerge in the not-too-distant future, so keep an eye on this space to learn more on them.
