Following a long series of rumors and reports on the upcoming Sony Xperia X3 smartphone, a new leak is now available online, in the form of a series of drawings this time, which appear meant to provide some more info on the handset’s dimensions.

Moreover, the leaked Xperia Z3 drawings (available courtesy of baidu) are accompanied by CAD schemes for the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, which has been long rumored to be the smaller flavor of the upcoming flagship device.

What said drawings reveal is the fact that the Xperia Z3 will be a bit narrower and much thinner when compared to its predecessor, measuring 146.46 x 72.09 x 7.3mm. It is expected to sport a 5.2-inch full HD touchscreen display, as gizmobolt notes.

Should the new handset follow the same pattern as its predecessors in the Xperia Z series did, we’ll see it released with a slim body and dust- and water-proof capabilities, which will certainly make it a highly appealing device.

The Xperia Z3 Compact, on the other hand, will be a bit smaller, at 129 x 64.9 x 8.8mm. These dimensions appear to fit the previous reports on it having a 4.6-inch touchscreen display, though an official confirmation on this has yet to be provided.

One thing that you should keep in mind, however, is the fact that, despite the smaller body, the Xperia Z3 Compact might include the same hardware specs as those of its larger counterpart.

This means that it could arrive on shelves with a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, as well as with 3GB of RAM, making it one of the most powerful “mini” devices out there.

Compared to the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, the new handset will be a bit taller but will also be thinner. We should see it released with waterproof capabilities too.

Rumor has it that Sony will make both the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact official at the IFA 2014 show in Berlin. The company is planning a press event on September 3, and both smartphones could become official there.

In addition to the aforementioned processor and amount of RAM, the two should also include a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, paired with a 2MP or higher front camera for making video calls.

Moreover, they are expected to land on shelves with 4G LTE connectivity inside, as well as with the usual 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth capabilities. Moreover, both of them should run under the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system right from the start.

No official confirmation on the two has been provided as of now, but we’re less than a month away from their possible launch, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
