Later this year, maybe as soon as September, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile should make official a new high-end smartphone in the popular Xperia series of devices, namely the Xperia Z3, and some more info on its possible hardware specs has emerged online today.

The phone has been more or less confirmed when Sony announced that it would release a new flagship smartphone every six months, but no official info on its capabilities has been provided as of now.

Leaked details that have emerged over at evleaks, however, suggest that the upcoming device will arrive on shelves with a 5.15-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

Moreover, said info claims that the upcoming device, which apparently sports model number D6653, might arrive on the market with a 2.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM.

The smartphone is also said to include 16GB of internal memory, most probably paired with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, and to run under the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system.

Moreover, it should feature a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, paired with a 2.1MP front camera for making video calls.

Should these details pan out, we’ll see the new device released only as a minor upgrade over the Sony Xperia Z2, though it remains to be seen whether things will indeed turn out this way.
