The popular smartphone can't be purchased anymore

Sony has said numerous times that it doesn't plan to enter the US market for because it's not ready for the competition. However, from time to time, the Japanese company launches one or more of its Xperia smartphones through its online store.

T-Mobile also carried some of Sony's best smartphones, but it looks like the handset maker is determined to take some of the worst decision regarding its smartphones availability.

One of the most popular Xperia smartphones available in the United States, the Xperia Z3 Compact has just been discontinued by Sony.

The phone's webpage shows a discounted price of $470 for which customers where able to get the smartphone, but it's put in the “discontinued” category.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact can't be purchased in the United States via Sony Online Store, but there might still be other places where you can find the smartphone is you really want it.

Could Xperia Z3+ replace it?

There's a slight chance that the Xperia Z3 Compact might be soon be replaced by Sony's latest Android smartphone, the Xperia Z3+, but this is just a speculation.

Sony launched the Xperia Z3 Compact back in September, so the device is not even one year old. When it comes to specs, the handset makes as a more than decent mid-range smartphone.

It's packed with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the smartphone sports a 4.6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features scratch proof glass.

The phone has been IP68 certified and comes with 16GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

Although Xperia Z3 Compact has been initially released with Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system onboard, Sony has already upgraded the smartphone to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
