In early September, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile should make official its next flagship smartphone, in the form of Xperia Z3, which is expected to be accompanied by a smaller model, supposedly called Xperia Z3 Compact.
The mini handset has been spotted online a few times until now, and has made an appearance in a new series of leaked photos today, which are meant to confirm some of the specs that it will arrive on shelves with.
Said new photos with Xperia Z3 Compact, which are available courtesy of qzone (via XperiaBlog), show that the device will feature a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, just as previous reports on the matter suggested.
Apparently, the handset’s camera will sport a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS camera sensor on the back, which is accompanied by LED flash (placed on the center).
Said leaked images are accompanied by a series of photos with the Sony Xperia Z3, and confirm that the two will have different port flaps.
On the Xperia Z3 Compact, users can see that the microSD port is placed next to the microUSB one, and that both are protected by the same flap.
The mobile phone will also arrive on shelves with a magnetic charging port, as well as with a dedicated camera button, and with an open 3.5mm headphone jack.
Rumor has it that the new device will arrive on shelves with a 4.6-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD resolution (or full HD, according to some), while being powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor.
The handset should sport 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes. Said 20.7MP rear camera will be paired with a 2MP front one, so as to allow users to make video calls while on the go.
It will also include support for 4G LTE networks, along with the entire set of usual connectivity capabilities and sensors. Moreover, Xperia Z3 Compact is expected to run under Android 4.4 KitKat from the start, with Sony’s own software customizations loaded on top.
The new photos with the smartphone, as well as those with the Xperia Z3 show that Sony will release them with plastic cases that should offer additional protection.
Rumor has it that both these phones will go official on September 3 at IFA 2014 in Berlin, as Sony has already confirmed a press event for that day. Keep an eye on this space for additional details on the matter.
