Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is gearing up for the release of its Xperia Z2 flagship device in more markets out there, and one of those set to receive it in the not-too-distant future is India.

The vendor is planning to hold a press event in India on May 8, and the high-end Android-based smartphone is expected to be officially introduced in the country on that day.

According to a report coming from The Economic Times, the invitations that Sony has sent out to the media in the country indeed prove that Xperia Z2 will be announced at the event, even if an official confirmation on this hasn’t been provided as of now.

Previous reports on the matter have already suggested that the mobile phone might have been planned for a May 15 release in India, and chances are that all will pan out in the end.

As XperiaBlog notes, the handset might feature a price tag of Rs. 56,000 when launched in the country, though chances are that retailers will be selling it for less than that, in the end.

Xperia Z2 was made official at MWC 2014 in Barcelona with a 5.2-inch screen, a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7MP back camera, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat loaded on top.
