Sony Xperia Z2, the new flagship Android-based device that the Japanese mobile phone maker has made official last week during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is expected to become available for purchase in Singapore by the end of March.

The info comes from hardwarezone.com.sg, which claims that Sony has already confirmed to them plans to release the device in the country, and that they have already shared information on the price tag at which the phone will be released, namely S$998 ($789/€572).

The smartphone is expected to be sold SIM-free and unlocked at this price (which also includes taxes), yet it remains to be seen whether retailers won’t be offering it at a bit less.

At the moment, the new mobile phone is also listed on Sony Mobile’s website in the country as coming soon, yet no info on launch date and pricing can be found there.

However, users interested in the device can pre-register for it, and Sony promises to keep them in the loop with specific details on when they will be able to buy the new flagship.

The handset will be launched in Singapore in all three color versions that were unveiled at MWC 2014, namely Black, Purple, and White, it seems.

On its website, Sony also teases the new high-end Xperia Z2 as being capable of offering great imaging capabilities, courtesy of its 20.7-megapixel camera, which can record videos in 4K resolution.

“Meet Xperia Z2. An Android phone that allows you to take photos and videos like never before. For moments you’ll keep looking back on forever,” Sony Mobile notes.

“With a megapixel count of 20.7 and a sensor that’s 30% larger than the standard smartphone, the Xperia Z2 Android phone is on a par with our compact digital cameras. The results are super crisp and super sharp images,” the company also says.

The rest of the phone’s hardware specifications are as impressive, starting with the 5.2-inch full HD TRILUMINOS Display with X-Reality for mobile picture engine.

Xperia Z2 is powered by a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974AB quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and also features a waterproof (IP55 and IP58) and dust-resistant design.

Moreover, the smartphone sports 16GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, a front camera for video calling, the entire range of connectivity capabilities, and a 3200 mAh battery inside. Sony Xperia Z2 runs under Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.
