Japanese mobile phone maker Sony came to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month with a brand-new Android-based flagship handset, in the form of Xperia Z2, and some more info on when it lands on shelves in the UK is now available.

The handset is expected to be released in the country through various wireless carriers and retailers, including Clove, which claims to have all the necessary details on the phone’s pricing available for users.

According the company's website, the new Sony flagship smartphone will land in the UK at £540 ($900 / €646), and will be available SIM-free and unlocked.

What’s more, the mobile phone will be available for purchase with a nice range of accessories and content included in the package, which will increase its value, as UnwiredView notes.

As part of the deal, those who will purchase the Xperia Z2 via Clove will receive a free wireless speaker, free noise-cancelling headphones, and digital content such as 6 movies and 30 days of Sony Music Unlimited.

The free stuff is worth £200 ($333 / €239), which should make the smartphone a bit more appealing. After all, its price tag is a high one, although affordable for a flagship handset.

The retailer also claims that the handset will be in stock in the week commencing April 7, which suggests that we might see it available for purchase around the same day Galaxy S5 arrives in the UK, namely April 11.

However, only the Black and White versions of Sony Xperia Z2 are confirmed to be available at that time. The Purple version should be added to the offering as well, though no specific info on when that might happen has been provided as of now.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Xperia Z2 was announced with a 5.2-inch full HD touchscreen display, as well as with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor packed inside.

The smartphone also comes with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, while being powered by a 3200mAh battery.

On the back, Xperia Z2 features a 20.7-megapixel camera, capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, complemented by a 2.2MP front camera for making video calls. The smartphone sports an IP55/IP58 rating for dust-and water-resistance, and features all the usual set of connectivity capabilities.

Moreover, Samsung announced it with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform loaded on top, as well as with various exclusive applications and software features.
