Back at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, Sony announced its latest flagship tablet effort in the form of the Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Several months later, the tablet finally arrives on the Indian market, courtesy of online retailer Infibeam. The slate sells for Rs. 49.999 / $830 / €609.

The tablet arrives with a 10.1-inch full HD display (offering 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution) and is one of the thinnest tablets on the market. On top of that, it is also waterproof.

The powerhouse of the device is a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor working with Adreno 330 GPU and fitted with 3GB of RAM. The tablet runs Android 4.4. KitKat out of the box.

The slate also takes advantage of Sony’s Front Surround dynamic audio noise cancelling tech so it should be able to bestow a superior audio experience upon users.

I should also point out that the Android 4.4 KitKat has arrived in India for Sony’s previous flagship tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z, so owners of the device can update to the latest Android too.

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is offered with a black paint job only. The device has appeared in the official Sony India webstore, so the launch is just around the corner.
