Back at MWC 2014 in February, Sony introduced its latest flagship tablet, the Xperia Z2 Tablet which arrived with the latest Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor.

However, after the tablet was widely made available in markets such as the US and UK, there were some reports about the tablet being plagued by a number of touchscreen issues, which hindered operation performed on the device.

More specifically, the guys over at TabTech reported that operations taking advantage of the on-screen keyboard could prove to be quite uncomfortable.

But wait, we bring you some good news. So if you too experienced some issues with the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet’s screen responsiveness, you should know that a few days ago an update was rolled out, solving the problem.

The new update goes by build version 17.11.A.0.402 and is currently available for download. The new software version can be downloaded by owners of the Wi-Fi and LTE models alike and will reportedly allow the touchscreen to function the way it was meant to be.

Why Sony didn't take notice of the problem before launching the product into the wild, we can’t really say, but since the problem occurred with a number of devices, the woes could all be attributed to a poor inspecting job.

The update comes in the form of an OTA and arrives directly on the tablet. Sure, if you’re anxious enough to be getting the fix that will enable you to use the tablet the way it was meant to, you can also manually check the settings to see if the new build has arrived for your device.

However, note the OTA will reach users gradually depending on their device type and current location/territory.

So far, the reactions posted by users who performed the update on specialized forums, seem to indicate the new build is truly beneficial to the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Leaving the touchscreen issues aside, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is actually a very capable device. Nevertheless, problems like this have to be corrected before the device is actually launched in retail, especially since the problem was quickly recognized by initial adopters of the slate.

Anyway, as a quick memory refresh, the Sony Xperia Z2 offers a 10.1-inch screen boasting a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and coming with Sony’s new Live color LED tech.

Under the bonnet, Sony has laid a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor unit that comes fitted with 3GB of RAM. The device is available for purchase in most major markets around the world.
