By now you’re probably aware Sony has launched its latest flagship tablet model, the Xperia Z2 back at MWC 2014 in February.

And if a few days ago we reported the tablet would arrive in the United States on May 4, now we bring good news for Canadian customers interested in purchasing the successor of the Xperia Tablet Z.

For them, the tablet will ship out a day later, meaning May 5, but those interested can place a pre-order right now (via AndroidHeadlines).

Those interested in buying the 16GB of the tablet will get it for CAD$529 / $480 / €347 while the 32GB model will cost $599.99 / $544 / €394.

Note that for the moment the tablet will be available as a Wi-Fi only version, with a choice between white and black paint jobs.

For those of you who didn't get a chance to do a little reading on the tablet, you should know the Xperia Z2 Tablet is the successor of the Xperia Tablet Z launched a year ago at MWC.

Sony likes to make big claims, so it advertises the tablet as the “world’s slimmest and lightest waterproof tablet” and this might just be right as the new slate is only 6.9mm / 0.27 inches thick and weighs 426 g / 439 g – 0.93 / 0.96 lbs depending on whether we’re talking about the Wi-Fi or 3G/LTE model.

The new Xperia Z2 Tablet has a 10.1-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 Triluminos display bundling Sony’s new Live color LED tech. This new system blends red and green phosphor with blue LEDs in order to produce a bright, uniform light.

A 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor lies under the bonnet, combined with a hefty 3GB of RAM.

Other notable feats you can expect to see the tablet arrive with include Sony’s Front Surround dynamic audio, noise canceling tech (it will reportedly block up to 98% of ambient noise when used in combination with noise cancelling headphones), plus a neat Wireless Controller so users can pair the tablet with a PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 controller.

The tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, which should be a standard of tablets being launched today.

In related news, Sony’s previous tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z has reportedly started receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update in some parts of the world. It’s going to be a gradual roll-out, so the availability date will vary depending on region.
