Mobile phone users in the UK interested in the purchase of a Sony Xperia Z2 handset could receive their phones as soon as today, as long as they make the purchase via specific retailers in the country.

One of them is Phones4U, which has listed the device on its website with an expected delivery during this week. Carphone Warehouse is another such retailer, also expecting to bring the phone to its customers starting today.

Sony Xperia Z2 was made official in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, when the Japanese handset vendor announced that the device would start shipping in early April.

Soon after, however, the phone was said to have been delayed in various markets, including the UK, where the optimistic availability estimate was of May 1.

However, it appears that some people will be much luckier than that, and that they could have their phones today or later this week.

“Expected delivery week commencing 14/04,” Phones4U clearly states on its website. The retailer also lists the device as available on various monthly plans at carriers such as EE and Vodafone.

The best contract deal on the smartphone appears to be on Vodafone’s £42 ($70/€51) per month plan, with the device available for free. Both the Black and the White versions of the phone can be purchased from the retailer.

Although it started selling sooner than expected, Xperia Z2 might not enjoy the level of sales that one would expect from a flagship device, given that inventory is said to be tight. This means that it might run out of stock pretty soon, provided that it sees high demand.

One thing that is certain, however, is the fact that Xperia Z2 has all that it takes to impress, starting with a 5.2-inch full HD screen and a dust and waterproof design.

The handset is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and also features 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Moreover, the smartphone features a 20-megapixel camera with 4K video recording on the back, paired with a front camera for making video calls while on the go and the usual set of connectivity capabilities and sensors.

Sony Xperia Z2 runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, while also sporting a wide range of exclusive apps and features coming from Sony Mobile, so as to deliver a unique experience to all users.
