Mobile phone users in the UK interested in the purchase of Sony’s latest flagship Android-based smartphone, namely the Xperia Z2, can now find the handset listed on pre-order at online retailer Phones4U.

The mobile phone is expected to become available for purchase in the country starting with April 11, yet users can already reserve it for when it hits shelves on this page at the retailer.

Xperia Z2 can be ordered on for £0 upfront on a £47 ($79/€57) per month plan at wireless carriers EE or Vodafone. Various options are also available for those who would rather go for a lower monthly contract, with £49.99 ($84/€61) upfront on a £42 ($70/€51) monthly deal, as Android Central notes.

Only the Black and White versions of the mobile phone are available through this retailer for the time being. Those interested in the Purple variant will have to head over to O2 for that, as it has exclusivity on the model.

Those who pre-order the Xperia Z2 through Phones4U will also receive a free Sony SRS-BTX300 wireless speaker (which is worth £119/$199/€145), as well as “exclusive Sony content including games, music and six movies.”

On top of that, users will be able to grab the Sony Smartband accessory for only half of its price. Those who buy the phone on a 4G plan will also receive £50 Google Play credit from the retailer.

Sony Xperia Z2 was made official last week during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and a 424 ppi pixel density.

The smartphone is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor (MSM8974AB), paired with Adreno 330 graphics and with 3GB of RAM, which should ensure that users receive great performance levels from it.

Moreover, the new device features 16 GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage space.

On the back, Xperia Z2 sports a 20.7-megapixel camera with LED flash and support for 4K video recording, complemented by a 2.2 MP front camera that can shoot videos in full HD resolution.

In addition to the usual set of connectivity capabilities, Sony also packed the new device with a Li-Ion 3200mAh battery that can deliver up to 19 hours of talk time or up to 740 hours of standby time. The phone is also dust and water-resistant, the same as its predecessors.

Xperia Z2 arrives on the market with Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat loaded on top, as well as with a great deal of exclusive applications and features coming from Sony themselves.
