Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is getting ready for the launch of its Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone in more markets around the world, and the company has just kicked off the pre-order period for the device in Singapore.

The new flagship Android-based handset will be available for reservations between March 26 and April 13, the company has announced, while also unveiling that free SmartBand SWR10 will also be available for those who order it in advance.

Sony’s Xperia Z2 was announced in Singapore with a price tag of S$998 (£476, €569, $786) attached to it and should be launched in the country in the first week of April, via local telecom companies.

Moreover, Sony also unveiled plans to make the smartphone available in the country through its Sony Stores and Sony Centres, though that would happen only in early May, as XperiaBlog notes.

Xperia Z2 was made official last month, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, as this year’s flagship handset from the Japanese company and sports a nice range of enhancements when compared to its predecessors.

The phone was unveiled with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, and also sports a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, with Adreno 330.

The new handset should be able to deliver appealing performance capabilities to all of its users, especially since Sony has paired the aforementioned processor with 3GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Z2 also features 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the handset features a 20.7-megapixel camera with LED flash and HDR, capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, paired with a 2.2MP front camera for making video calls.

Sony also packed the new mobile phone with 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, built-in GPS receiver, and with the usual set of sensors packed inside. Moreover, it included a Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery, to ensure long usage times.

Sony Xperia Z2 runs under Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, while also boasting a great deal of exclusive applications and features coming from Sony itself.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Sony has previously confirmed plans to launch the Xperia Z2 smartphone in various markets around the world starting with early April. However, the device might see low stock in some countries, the company also announced.
