Sony fans in Singapore rejoice, as the Japanese company has just confirmed that the Xperia Z2 smartphone will be officially introduced in the country on April 5.

XperiaBlog reports that the Facebook page of Sony Singapore mentions that the Xperia Z2 will be available for purchase this week from all three major carriers in the country: M1, Singtel and Starhub.

There’s no word on pricing options, but Sony has announced that more details will be unveiled on April 5, when the Xperia Z2 goes on sale at local telcos.

According to Sony Singapore, those who are among the first to pre-order the Xperia Z2 will also receive a Sony Smartband for free, while stocks last.

In the same piece of news, Xperia Z2 will also be available for purchase via Sony Stores and Sony Centres, but it will only hit shelves sometime in May.

For the time being, the smartphone can be pre-ordered from Sony Stores and Sony Centres for around S$1,000 outright, which is about €570 or $785.

Keep in mind though that you will only receive it next month, so perhaps it’s better to wait for the device to arrive at one of the three main carriers in Singapore.

Sony Xperia Z2 will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box and a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz.

Sony’s flagship smartphone boasts a stunning 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and shatter proof, scratch resistant glass coating.

The phone’s display has been integrated with Sony’s latest TRILUMINOUS and X-Reality Engine technologies for a state-of-the-art viewing experience.

Apart from the powerful CPU, the Xperia Z2 also comes equipped with an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit, no less than 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD memory card.

The Xperia Z2 is IP58 certified, which makes it dust proof and water resistant. It also boasts an impressive 20.7-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features LED flash, autofocus and 4K video recording. A secondary 2.2-megapixel camera is included in the front as well.

Connectivity-wise, the Xperia Z2 offers LTE Cat. 4 support, allowing for download speeds of up to 150Mbps, as well as HSUPA (5.76Mbps) and HSDPA (42Mbps).

It is also worth mentioning that Sony’s high-end smartphone is powered by a 3200 mAh battery, which should provide up to 690 hours of standby time or up to 15 hours of talk time.
