14 DAY TRIAL // Bad news for Sony fans in Hong Kong, as the Japanese handset maker has just announced that the Xperia Z2 has been delayed and is now set for release sometime in June 2014.
The smartphone was initially expected to arrive in Hong Kong this month (April), but it looks like Sony has been forced to delay the Xperia Z2 for more than a month.
XperiaBlog reports that no reasons on why the Xperia Z2 launch has been delayed have been given by Sony, but we suspect that the company has major issues in fulfilling all the pre-orders it has received in the last couple of weeks.
Hong Kong is not the first country where Xperia Z2 gets delayed. We reported back in late March that the launch of the smartphone in the UK had been pushed back by one month.
Many UK-based retailers have been contacted by Sony and have been told that the first batch of Xperia Z2 units should arrive in the country sometime in May.
Well, it looks like Sony fans in Hong Kong have been hit by a longer delay period for the Xperia Z2, as the phone will only be available for purchase beginning June.
Even though Sony Mobile has confirmed that the Xperia Z2 has seen high demand in almost all regions where it went on sale in the last couple of weeks, it will be interesting to see how well it will fare against the upcoming HTC One (M8) and Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship smartphones.
Sony fans will most likely wait patiently for the availability of the Xperia Z2 in their countries, but there are other yet undecided customers who will probably pick one of the other two brands.
All in all, the Xperia Z2 is a great device on paper, so those looking to buy a top-tier smartphone will definitely not be disappointed by what it has to offer.
It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, which is the latest version of the platform released by Google.
