Sony Mobile has yet to confirm the availability of Xperia Z2 in Australia, but Android fans may not need it anymore. It appears that major carrier Telstra has accidentally released two online adverts that confirm that Sony Xperia Z2 will be available for purchase through its official retail channels.

AusDroid reports that Telstra could release Sony’s Android flagship smartphone on its $70 (€47) per month Accelerate plans. According to one of the ads, Xperia Z2 will be offered with the $70/month plan with an added $6 per month handset payment on a 24-month contract, for a total minimum cost of $1,824 (€1.235) over 24 months.

Potential customers should know that Telstra’s $70 Accelerate plan will bring them $700 (€475) worth of talk and MMS, along with unlimited Text messages and 1.5GB of mobile data. In addition, the smartphone is also eligible for the “New Phone Feeling” option.

There is no telling when exactly the smartphone will go on sale and judging by the latest reports coming from various countries where the Xperia Z2 was delayed, it might take a while for Telstra to add the smartphone to its portfolio.

Unfortunately, Sony Xperia Z2 is the victim of its own success, as the Japanese company has confirmed numerous times that due to high demand it won’t be able to fulfill all pre-orders and it was even forced to delay the launch of the smartphone in some countries (UK, Hong Kong).

The Xperia Z2 was initially slated for an April release in lots of countries, but now it looks like it won’t make it in all regions. The smartphone has been confirmed to ship with Google’s latest version of Android, namely KitKat 4.4.2.

Given the fact that this is Sony’s new flagship handset, the smartphone has been equipped with a powerful 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and no less than 3GB of RAM.

The smartphone is packed with 16GB of storage, but users can further expand internal memory up to 128GB via microSD memory card.

Another strong point of the Xperia Z2 would be the stunning 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that features Sony’s TRILUMINOUS and X-Reality Engine technologies. The full HD (1080p) screen supports 424ppi (pixel density) and features shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass coating.

As you might have already learned from the official announcement, Sony Xperia Z2 is IP58 certified (dust proof and water resistant) and boasts an impressive 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording.
