Today, Sony Mobile and Bell Canada have officially announced the upcoming availability of Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone in the country on the network of this carrier, starting with May this year.

The specific release date for the mobile phone hasn’t been unveiled as of now, but the two companies did say that the new device would be released in Canada exclusively on Bell.

Details on the smartphone’s pricing at this operator haven’t been provided either, though we should expect them to arrive just before the mobile phone’s official release date.

Made official in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Sony Xperia Z2 will provide users in Canada with a premium, dust- and water-resistant design, as well as with great performance capabilities.

The phone comes with a 5.2-inch full HD touchscreen display, while also packing a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, paired with 2GB of RAM.

The mobile phone was announced with 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, and the whole range of usual connectivity capabilities.

Moreover, it sports a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, as well as a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

"With Xperia Z2 we are delivering unique experiences to Canadians that only Sony can offer. We have redefined the new standard for a premium smartphone once again with Xperia Z2," Ravi Nookala, president of North America, Sony Mobile Communications, said.

"Bringing a powerful and sophisticated waterproof design coupled with a camera offering an innovative experience that captures memories in stunning detail through 4K video recording and new ways to use the camera with more unique Xperia camera apps.”

“We are delighted to work with Bell as the exclusive provider of Xperia Z2 in Canada because of its support for innovative technology products and mobile data services that take full advantage of 4G LTE," Nookala also said.

Sony’s Xperia Z2 was made official with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top, as well as with various exclusive applications and features coming from Sony itself.

Some of them include Timeshift video, Background defocus, Creative effect, and AR effect. Moreover, the smartphone also packs a variety of popular applications pre-loaded right from the start.

On top of that, those who will purchase the device will receive access to exclusive entertainment content, including six blockbuster movies from Sony Pictures, such as Captain Phillips, available via the Video Unlimited service.

Bell Canada has already listed the Xperia Z2 smartphone on its website, and all users interested in registering for updates on its availability can head over there for that.
