Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is getting ready for the launch of a new flagship Android-based device, one that has already leaked online a few times before under the name of Xperia Z1s.

A press photo with the smartphone has emerged online courtesy of @evleaks, offering a better look at what Sony could make official in the near future.

Rumor has it that the device might be announced as soon as this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and that it will land on shelves at T-Mobile in the United States.

The newly leaked press photo with the handset confirms the fact that T-Mobile will carry it, though no specific details on its availability and pricing have been provided as of now.

Apparently, T-Mobile is planning an exclusive press event for January 8, and Xperia Z1s will be announced there, along with some other novelties from the wireless carrier, a recent article on technosamigos reads.

What’s interesting is the fact that Sony will hold a press conference at CES today, and that it might not announce the phone there.

The company hasn’t confirmed the existence of this smartphone as of yet, although it has already made an appearance on the its official website a few months ago.

According to previous reports on this device, Sony will launch it as the smaller version of the Xperia Z1, featuring a 4.3-inch touchscreen display.

However, it should sport the same high-end hardware as the larger counterpart, including a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 20-megapixel camera on the back, with support for full HD video recording.

Other reports, however, suggest that the phone could be released with the same screen size as the latest flagship from the company, but with enhanced hardware inside. Should this rumor pan out, the device could be unveiled with a Snapdragon 805 CPU inside.
