Sony Xperia Z1 mini has been rumored to arrive on the market for quite a while now, but the Japanese company did not confirm any of the leaked rumors.

Although an official announcement is still yet to come, Sony Xperia Z1 mini will finally hit shelves in about two weeks. However, the smartphone will be released in the form of the Xperia Z1 f and will only be available in Japan via NTT Docomo.

We expect Sony to bring the smaller version of Sony Xperia Z1 in other countries as well, but an official announcement is not expected until early next year at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014.

XperiaBlog reports that NTT Docomo has just confirmed on its official website that it will launch the Sony Xperia Z1 f (SO-02F) on December 19. While no price is available yet, most of the smartphone’s specs have been revealed.

The bad news is that there’s a high chance that the international version (if any) will be packed with slightly different features and, for the time being, there’s no telling what Sony will change.

Anyway, the NTT Docomo version of Xperia Z1 mini will be available in four color options: black, white, pink and striking lime.

Hardware-wise, the Xperia Z1 f comes with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. MicroSD card slot is available as well, so users will be able to further expand storage up to 64GB.

It sports a slightly smaller 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and is powered by a smaller 2300 mAh Li-Ion battery.

The device features the same IP55/IP58 certification as the standard model, which means that it’s dust and water resistant. It measures only 65 mm x 127mm x 9.4mm and weighs 140g (battery included).
