Last week, Japanese handset vendor Sony Mobile officially announced a new Android-based device in its Xperia lineup, and rumor has it that a mini flavor of the phone is also in the books.

The smartphone has been spotted online before as the Honami Mini (codenamed Itsuki), and is now said to be almost confirmed as the Xperia Z1 mini.

In fact, a leaked photo that emerged over at Digi-Wo appears set to prove that the upcoming handset will sport the same design as its bigger brother.

The phone can be seen there dressed up in Purple, while the two Xperia Z1 handsets that lie down next to it sport Purple and Black cases.

Based on the aforementioned image, we can assume that the Xperia Z1 mini will be very thin and light, though confirmation on this has yet to emerge.

In fact, we should note that it still remains to be seen whether the photo attached to this article in indeed legit or not.

Some info on the hardware specs of the mobile phone was also posted alongside the leaked photo, but XperiaGuide notes that these details might not be accurate.

Just as previously rumored, the Xperia Z1 mini might arrive on shelves with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD resolution, as well as with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.

Furthermore, it is expected to sport 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, as well as a Sony G Lens camera on the back, most probably a 20-megapixel one.

Running under Google’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, the smartphone is rumored to have been slated for an official unveiling at the CES 2014 show in January.

What we’re yet to learn is whether the upcoming device will borrow the dust and waterproof design from Xperia Z1. If it does, it will certainly attract a lot of users on its side.
