New software updates have started rolling out to the owners of various Xperia devices out there, including the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia L, each with its own set of enhancements packed inside, though not available for all users out there.

The Xperia Z1, for example, is currently receiving firmware version 14.3.A.0.761 in China, though no official changelog has been attached to it, and it’s hard to say what improvements it was meant to provide users with.

According to XperiaBlog, the update has been confirmed to be available only for the Xperia Z1 C6902 handsets that are running China firmware.

Moreover, the news site notes that the update is likely to include only a series of fixes for the various bugs that were found in the previous software loaded on the smartphone.

Most probably, Sony is also planning on making the update available for Xperia Z1 users on other markets out there, and more details on the matter will start emerging soon.

As for the Xperia L, device models C2104 and C2105 are currently receiving an update for software version 15.3.A.1.17 that got the necessary approvals in early April.

The update is said to be available for devices in Europe (France, Germany, Switzerland), Asia (Philippines, Singapore) and the Middle East (MEA, Saudi Arabia).

No details on what was included in this update have been provided either, though the usual bug fixes and minor improvements are expected to be visible inside it.

Those of you who own the Xperia L smartphone should head over to Settings > About phone > Software updates to manually check on the availability of this new firmware.

In related news, we learn that Sony has already received the certification for Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware version 10.5.A.0.227 for the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and Xperia Tablet Z.

Apparently, this is the same software version that leaked not long ago for the Xperia Z, and it shows that Sony is moving closer and closer to the official availability of the platform upgrade for its devices.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Sony promised only a few weeks ago the release of Android 4.4 KitKat for all of these devices before the end of May.

No specific release date for the upgrade has been announced as of now, but, should all go according to plan, we might hear more on the matter in a few weeks, so keep an eye on this space for more on this.
