(In)famous French carrier SFR has done it again and has issued an official statement regarding the next software updates for various smartphones, and lots of Xperia devices are confirmed for a KitKat update in April.

This is not the first time SFR teases major updates for high-end smartphones and taking into account previous experiences, the carrier is not to be taken seriously. However, there’s a slight chance this would prove accurate after all, which is why we’re reporting on it.

According to SFR, Sony Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra owners should expect to receive the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update sometime in April. The upgrade should be available via Sony PC Companion, SFR claims.

These are not the only Sony smartphones listed on SFR’s software upgrades scheduler. Sony Xperia SP and Xperia T are also slated for an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update next month (March).

Even the LG G2 is mentioned on the list, so those who own the high-end smartphone at SFR should look for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on March 3.

At least that’s what the French carrier claims on its official website. We will keep an eye out for any additional details on these updates, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
