Mobile phone users in the United States interested in the purchase of an Xperia Z1 LTE smartphone can now head over to Sony’s website to grab it unlocked.

The Japanese mobile phone maker has finally decided to make the LTE flavor of its flagship Xperia Z1 (C6906) handset available SIM free in the US, with a price tag of $619.99 (€452) attached to it.

All three color versions of the mobile phone were released in the country, including Black, Purple and White but, as XperiaBlog notes, only the Black version of the handset is available at the moment.

All of those interested in making a purchase should head over to this page on Sony’s online store for that. However, you won’t be able to grab the Purple and White flavors of the device until April 30, 2014.

The Xperia 1 was made available in the United States in October last year, though only the HSPA+ iteration of the phone was up for grabs unlocked.

The LTE variant was released exclusively on the network of T-Mobile, and has remained so until now. At this wireless carrier, the phone is being sold under the name of Xperia Z1s (model number C6916).

The Xperia Z1 LTE features a different front camera placement when compared to the Xperia Z1s, and does not have 32GB of internal memory, as the latter does.

The specifications list of the smartphone includes a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display (a TRILUMINOS display with X-Reality for mobile engine), along with a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Moreover, the mobile phone sports 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of external storage space.

Sony Xperia Z1 LTE also comes to the market with a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, with Exmor RS for Mobile, Sony G Lens, BIONZ for mobile, and f/2.0 aperture, capable of offering support for full HD video recording capabilities.

The mobile phone also includes a 2MP front camera for making video calls, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, and the usual set of sensors. The handset also features a battery capable of delivering up to 850 hours of standby time, as well as an xLOUD Experience.

Sony Xperia Z1 LTE is listed on the mobile phone maker’s website with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean loaded on top, though Sony has already started upgrading the mobile phone to the newer Android 4.4 KitKat platform.
