Sony Xperia Z1, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from the Japanese handset vendor, has been officially launched in China, where it will be released on the network of the largest carrier in the country, China Mobile.

The mobile phone comes with all the features that Xperia Z1 was announced with, but also brings a series of new capabilities, as well as a modified outer design.

Just as rumored recently, this appears to be the Xperia Z1 refresh that Sony has been working on for the past few months, and that was said at one point to be the Xperia Z1s.

The handset sports plastic sides, instead of the metal ones on the original, and also comes with a centered headphone jack. Furthermore, the new smartphone flavor features 32GB of internal memory, double the storage available inside the original Xperia Z1.

Sony and China Mobile unveiled the new device with model number L39t attached to it, as well as with a 5-inch Triluminous display that can deliver a full HD resolution.

At the same time, the mobile phone packs a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, along with 2GB of RAM, and a 3000mAh battery that should provide its owners with long usage time.

On the back, the handset features a 20-megapixel camera, with can record videos in full HD resolution. A front camera should also be included in the package.

Sony Xperia Z1 L39t also sports TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA/GSM connectivity capabilities, making it fit for China Mobile’s newly launched 4G network.

It will arrive on shelves with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top right from the beginning, and will have a price tag of 4,499 Yuan (£454, €539, $741) attached.

According to XperiaBlog, the Xperia Z1 refresh is expected to be launched in the United States as well, on the network of T-Mobile, yet nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter as of now.
