They are made by different manufacturers, but offer similar performance

It looks like Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is using two different displays depending on the market. Although the smartphone has been confirmed to pack a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720p resolution, the device is shipped with panels made by different manufacturers.

According to XperiaBlog, two companies provide Sony Mobile with displays for Xperia Z1 Compact: Japan Display Inc (JDI) and AU Optronics (AUO).

There have been rumors that Xperia Z1 Compact units that come packed with panels made by AUO have darker displays than the JDI's.

In addition, the former displays are also said to suffer from viewing angles, but it's nothing too obvious for the naked eye. Aside from that, there are no differences between the displays' contrast and color performance.
