The Xperia Z1 Compact was recently announced during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 trade fair and was confirmed to arrive on the market this month. In fact, the smartphone is already available for purchase in some European countries, including Sweden and Finland.

However, XperiaBlog reports that one of the first Asian countries to get the Xperia Z1 Compact will be Taiwan. The device has just been confirmed to arrive in the country on February 7.

Customers will be able to purchase the Xperia Z1 Compact in four color options, black, white, pink and lime, for around £305 / €370 / $505 outright.

The smartphone will be officially introduced in Taiwan on February 6 when Sony announced that it would hold a launch event for Xperia Z1 Compact, which would go on sale one day later.

The Xperia Z1 Compact is expected to arrive in other Asian countries, including India, Malaysia and Indonesia, as a cheaper version of the Xperia Z1.

The handset has been confirmed to ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Sony has announced that it will offer an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat soon.

Unlike the Xperia Z1, which packs a 5-inch display, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact comes with a slightly smaller 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

The insides of both Xperia Z1 and the Compact version are similar. They are equipped with 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processors, Adreno 330 graphics processing units and 2GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is said to be the first IP58 certified smartphone to feature an enhanced 20.7-megapixel main camera. A secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera is included as well.

Other highlights of the Xperia Z1 Compact include 16GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, LTE Cat4 support and 2300 mAh non-removable battery.
