Sony Mobile Canada has just announced that the company’s flagship smartphone Xperia Z1 will arrive in the country in mid-October and will be available through all major carriers, including Rogers, Bell and TELUS.

No details on the phone’s exact release date and pricing options have been unveiled yet, but we suspect that each carrier will make individual announcements in the coming weeks.

Sony Xperia Z1 will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and will be packed with a powerful 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

The Japanese handset maker has confirmed that the Xperia Z will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

Another strong point of the flagship smartphone is the impressive 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera featuring “G Lens” with a 27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture, as well as a custom-made large 1/2.3-type CMOS image sensor Exmor RS for mobile.

The 5-inch Triluminous capacitive touchscreen display supports full HD (1080p) resolution and X-Reality Engine. It also features scratch-resistant glass.

The Xperia Z1 also includes a 3000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery for a high battery performance. Sony has confirmed that the smartphone’s battery should provide up to 880 hours of standby time (850 hours in 3G mode) or up to 14 hours in talk time mode (15 hours in 3G mode).

Last but not least, the handset is dust-resistant and waterproof (IP55 & IP58) and features Sony’s OmniBalance design with durable tempered glass and solid one-piece aluminum frame.

“Xperia Z1 delivers Canadians a powerful and sophisticated waterproof masterpiece crafted from premium metal and glass as we bring unforgettable experiences to life for our customers. By bringing the power of Sony to the smartphone we are setting a new standard for premium smartphones,” said Tim Hernquist, vice president of marketing for North America, Sony Mobile Communications.
