The update is about 230MB in size and may have been pushed by mistake

It looks like Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia Z Ultra may have just leaked ahead of the official release, though not everyone will be able to get it.

XperiaBlog reports that at least one Xperia Z Ultra owner has received a new software version, 14.2.A.0.290, which might be the highly anticipated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update that everyone has been expecting.

There’s also a new thread on XDA Developers forum that is now debating what exactly this update really is, and everything points to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The bad news is that this seems to be an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean beta build, which has been mistakenly pushed to some Xperia Z Ultra users who weren’t meant to receive it yet.

Word has it that Sony engineers are already running this build on their Xperia Z Ultra for testing purposes and that a final version will be released sometime this month.

Keep in mind that the OTA (over the air) package is about 228MB in size, so those who receive this update could consider themselves lucky.

However, until we get more info on this build that proves that it’s the final version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, we can’t recommend Xperia Z Ultra owners to download and install it unless they don’t mind running Android beta builds.

Sony has already confirmed that it will bring Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on Xperia Z Ultra sometime in December, but recent rumors have suggested that the Japanese company may skip this update in favor of Android 4.4 KitKat, which is supposed to arrive next year.

Still, in light of the new details that have just popped up online, we think Sony will offer an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Xperia Z Ultra this month and an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade next year. Stay tuned for more on this one.
