The handset will arrive on shelves in a matter of weeks

Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile managed to impress the world with its latest flagship Android-based smartphone, the Xperia Z, which went official last week at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The handset created a lot of buzz around the web even before being officially launched, and has seen increased interest after the official launch as well.

Furthermore, in addition to attracting a lot of bloggers, media, analysts and other people, the device was also recognized as the best handset at CES 2013 by a lot of people.

According to Sony Mobile, there are at least 10 awards that Xperia Z won at CES 2013 and which need to be mentioned, although the phone was considered a top device by many other entities.

Thus, the company lists Xperia Z as winner of Popular Mechanics’ CES 2013: Editor’s Choice Awards, and as being rendered Best of CES 2013 by TechnoBuffalo, Laptop Magazine, Ubergizmo and Computer Act!ve.

At the same time, PC Pro, Tech Radar and Gotta Be Mobile considered it the best smartphone at the show, while from Stuff it received the CES 2013 Hot Stuff award.

“It is just great to see a product which the team has put so much care, attention and love into be recognized in this way. It’s a fantastic start to what we think will be an incredibly exciting year,” a post on Sony Mobile’s blog reads.

Moving forth, the company is gearing up for making the handset available for purchase around the world, and promises availability within the next several weeks.

Sony is also planning to be present at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, where it might unveil even more goodies for this year.
