We reported less than a week ago that Sony Xperia Z would go on sale in Russia in late February for no less than €745/$995 off contract.

Well, it appears that the smartphone is now available for purchase via Russian retailer M.Video for 29,990 rubles outright, which is about $985 or €750. Check it out here.

As Russian blog Hi-News points out, the smartphone is available only in two color options: black and white. However, we expect the purple Xperia Z to be launched in Russia as well.

As expected, the Xperia Z ships with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, though Sony already confirmed that an Android 4.2 upgrade would be available soon after launch.

The smartphone is IP57 certified and comes equipped with a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Check out more details on the phone’s specs sheet here.
