Sony Mobile has already made the Xperia Z available in Japan via NTT Docomo. However, the phone’s worldwide availability is still set for late February/early March.

Today, the Japanese company made another step towards the launch of Xperia Z and released the phones kernel source code.

As XDA-Developers points out, those who are anxious to compile their own kernel can now mingle with Sony’s source code.

The newly released kernel source code can be downloaded via Sony Developer Open Source Downloads website. The file is about 205MB in size and contains everything a developer would need to create its own ROM.

In the same piece of news, Sony Xperia Z is expected to arrive in Europe later this month as many carriers and major retailers have already confirmed they will offer the smartphone.
