One of the most anticipated smartphones for this month, the Xperia Z, has just been officially priced in the UK. Sony’s online store recently listed the smartphone on the “Coming Soon” page and priced it at no less than £530/€615/$840 outright.

The folks over at GSMArena who spotted the Xperia Z report that customers can now pre-register to receive email notifications with the exact release date of the smartphone. Check it out here.

At first glance, this seems heavily overpriced, but Sony is offering quite a lot of goodies with the Xperia Z, so it’s up to every customer to decide whether it’s worthy or not.

It is also worth mentioning that Sony China announced yesterday that the Xperia Z would be available for purchase in the Mainland for around $805/€595 off-contract, which is slightly lower than the UK variant.

Hopefully, UK-based major retailers will be able to offer the Xperia Z a bit cheaper than Sony online stores.

Anyway, we can safely assume that the smartphone will be available for much lower on select plans from various carriers, so stay tuned for more info on this one.

Speaking about specs, the Xperia Z is one of the most powerful smartphones launched by Sony Mobile. The device is equipped with a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

There are 16GB of internal memory inside, but users will be able to expand it further up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Another strong point of Sony’s flagship smartphone is the 13-megapixel rear camera which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

It also boasts a stunning 5-inch Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 display that supports full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution.

Obviously, the Xperia Z will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Sony promised an Android 4.2 upgrade would be available soon after launch.
