With less than two weeks left until Sony Xperia Z makes its debut in Europe, the smartphone receives its first firmware certification at PTCRB.

According to XperiaBlog, this is likely the same firmware version that the smartphone will ship with at launch, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Although Sony has confirmed that it will provide an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean upgrade soon after launch, this is not it. We expect that more details on this update will be available as we near the official launch of the Xperia Z.

Hopefully, Sony Mobile will keep its promise to Xperia Z buyers and will offer Android 4.2 soon after launch.

The flagship smartphone packs a powerful 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card. More details on the phone’s specs sheet are available here.
