Mobile phone carrier Telstra is gearing up for the launch of Sony’s new Xperia Z flagship smartphone in Australia, and has already confirmed such plans.

No specific info on when the handset might be released has been provided, but users can already head over to the carrier’s website to register their interest in the device’s arrival.

According to Ausdroid, Telstra is likely to make the new smartphone available for purchase on one of its high-end plans, yet these details are yet to be confirmed.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Xperia Z was made official with a 5-inch full HD screen, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on top (though it might receive Android 4.2 before launch).
