Sony is rumored to ready another Android flagship smartphone better than the currently available Xperia Z. The latter seems to be among the most popular Android high-end handsets available on the market.

The so-called Sony Honami is expected to arrive sometime in fall, but no official word has emerged yet. The Honami won’t be the only Android phone launched by Sony this year.

The Xperia UL leaked a few months ago, along with Xperia A, but while the latter has already been officially announced, the former has yet to be confirmed by Sony.

Although Sony Xperia UL has yet to be officially unveiled, the folks over at CNMO have just published the first live pictures of the phone.

The Xperia UL is said to feature a large 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, which will be complemented by 2GB of RAM.

In addition, the phone is said to pack 32GB of internal memory and a high-capacity 2,300 mAh Li-Ion battery. No word on microSD card slot yet.

Even though the Xperia UL looks impressive on the inside, this is not the top-tier Android phone that we expected from Sony, but a slightly improved version of Xperia Z.

We’re not sure if Sony will add a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera inside the Xperia UL, just like Xperia Z. However, from the pictures leaked, it’s clear that it will come packed with LED flash for night pictures, as well as secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

Hopefully, Sony Xperia UL will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, though there’s no confirmation yet.

Android enthusiasts anxious to purchase Sony’s new flagship smartphone will have to wait a bit longer, as Xperia UL does not include the improvements we would expect from the Japanese company’s next top-tier Android phone.
