It has been discontinued and it is no longer available for sale

It looks like Sony Xperia T2 Ultra won’t be making it to the UK after all. Although a few UK-based retailers said back in March that the Japanese handset maker confirmed to them that the smartphone would not be sent to their shelves anymore, we thought that bigger resellers in the country will eventually get some units in stock.

Well, it turns out we were wrong, as major retailer Clove UK has confirmed on its e-store that Sony Xperia Z2 Ultra “will not be coming to the UK, so it’s no longer available for sale.”

The smartphone was previously available for purchase in the UK for around £285 (€350 / $485) outright, which is probably one of the reasons it did not get enough popularity among Android users to justify a market release.

Sony Mobile has yet to comment on the matter, but given the fact that one of the major retailers in the UK has been confirmed by the Japanese company to no longer supply the Xperia T2 Ultra, this means that the smartphone will most certainly not be released in this part of the world.

However, Sony fans in other countries can still grab the Xperia T2 Ultra for slightly cheaper than the UK price. The smartphone is already available in Russia, Singapore and India, as well as other emerging markets, but it won’t arrive in the UK through official channels.

Unfortunately, Sony has big issues with supplying retailers with the new smartphones announced earlier this year. For example, the Xperia Z2 has been delayed in many countries even by one month due to the fact that the handset maker could not fulfil all pre-orders in regions where its flagship smartphone was already available for purchase.

The Xperia T2 Ultra ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Sony has already confirmed that a KitKat upgrade will be available soon.

The smartphone is equipped with a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Some of its main selling points would be the huge 6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, and the 13-megapixel main camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

It is also worth mentioning that the Xperia T2 Ultra packs 8GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB) and a high-capacity 3000 mAh non-removable battery.
