UK customers have been hit with bad news a few days ago when a few retailers confirmed that Sony had decided to not bring the unlocked single-SIM version of Xperia T2 Ultra in the country.

The Japanese company has recently launched the dual-SIM model of Xperia T2 Ultra in India, but it looks like due to stock shortages, the smartphone’s availability in some countries will be limited.

However, Sony fans in the United States may not be affected by these limited stocks, as the smartphone has just received FCC's (Federal Communications Commission) approval, XperiaBlog reports.

The device in question is model D5316, which is the same single-SIM variant that should have been released in the UK next month, only that it got the specific codename for the US-based carrier T-Mobile.

This means the Magenta operator may release the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra after all, even though previous information started as a simple rumor.

It's unclear whether or not T-Mobile will start selling the Xperia T2 Ultra next month, but it's good to know that the smartphone has been approved and it can hit shelves any moment now.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is a mid-ranged Android smartphone that is likely to be introduced in emerging markets first, including China, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Well-developed markets are likely to get the smartphone a few weeks later, or not at all if Sony doesn't manage to fulfill the strong demand for the Xperia T2 Ultra.

The Xperia T2 Ultra will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Sony has recently confirmed that the smartphone will receive an upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat in the not so distant future.

This should increase the number of pre-orders, especially given the fact that the rest of the phone's specs are well worth the price.

The smartphone has been confirmed to come equipped with a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside, along with an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Although the Xperia T2 Ultra packs only 8GB of internal memory, users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Another strong point of the device would be the huge 6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, along with Sony's TTRILUMINOUS and Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technologies.

Last but not least, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra boasts an impressive 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD video recording, as well as a secondary 1.1-megapixel camera for video calls.
